Damn you Hoag Hospital.

About 3 months ago I was suffering from severe abdominal pain and was referred to the E.R. by my doctor. BOY... if I had known all the crap I was going to go through, I would have NEVER gone. I went in and they did all kinds of tests and by the end of everything they sent me home with nothing.

No diagnoses
No medicine for my pain
No lollipop

The following day I had to go back to my family doctor becuase the pain had not subsided. He diagnosed me in two seconds after taking a simple urine test. I had a urinary tract infection.

Now, I'm stuck paying several bills to the hospital, the doctor who was on call, the radiology department and who knows what else. It sucks when medical bills take more than half my paycheck and I have insurance! I'm just paying the co-payment...imagine if I had had .no. insurance!? Maybe if they had diagnosed me I would feel better and say "well, they did tell me what was wrong with me", but they didn't. So ridiculous, I think.

I really think that our government needs to do something about our health care system.

  1. that is horrendous, but glad you are ok. i know this sounds nutty (and i sound like my mother right now!!!), but i think it would be good to write a letter of complaint to the hospital. those idiots should reimburse you since they were so incompetent.

  2. I went through the same thing a few years ago with a mysterious nerve/muscle pain affliction I like to call "Hooveritis" (coined by a friend using my maiden name). I had a bazillion tests and medications, and in the end, they never did figure out what is STILL wrong with me. The only thing that helps are massages (not by squirrels though, lol) and rest, eating right, etc.

What a huge waste of time, energy, money, stress, etc.

    Glad yours turned out okay!

  3. drollgirl: they sent me a survey shortly after I was there and I voiced my opinion then. But after receiving yet another bill from the 'radiology center' I think I might just send out a .real. letter! thanks for your input!

Chris: I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune and even worse that you still don't know what the cause is. I bet there's tons of people out there that have been through similar situations or even worse! I'm at least thankful that my insurance is covering a portion of it.
